i like the way you walk

the scene: macy's at somerset mall in troy, michigan. the year: 2005. a young 20 something girl has found herself utterly drawn to a small check houndstooth l.a.m.b. cape. that's right, a cape. the price of said cape: $500. young 20 something girl knows that this amazing, magical, timeless cape truly will transform any outfit, from jeans and a t-shirt to a cocktail dress. and yet, she is still unable to justify dropping 500 bones on a single item of clothing. deeply sad girl puts cape back on rack. 

my friends that girl was me (shocking i know). and i STILL think about that cape! the price was a bit much for my jobless college grad budget, but trust, i'd still be rocking it now and it would've been more than worth it. ::sigh::... and so i continue to be drawn to cape-like pieces like this superbly funky eryn brinie lightweight jacket.

you don't know how it feels to be me

ok, before you get all "a leather bodice?!! in the middle of WINTER?!", just picture this under a snuggly soft plaid button down (unbuttoned most of the way of course), black skinny zipper jeans (or maybe some hold beat-up holey boyfriends) and some bomb black platform booties. convinced yet? no? well fine. the cheese happily stands alone.
