time to trust my instincts

As I sit here slowly melting and trying to figure out what to wear to the Macy’s 4^th of July fireworks (air conditioning is over-rated… and actually over-priced in NYC… damn doubled electricity bill!), the one thing I’m actually not concerned with is my make up… Last week I was fortunate to be invited to a preview of the new Stila Loves Roxy waterproof make up collection where I was treated to a mini makeover and given a few amazing samples to try out at home.

Available now in Quiksilver and Roxy flagship stores, as well as online, the collection includes custom-designed packaging of a special selection of Stila’s best selling waterproof and SPF products including Stila’s first ever sparkle waterproof eyeliner.

The new eyeliners are undoubtedly my personal favorite of the bunch… Available in three fabulous colors- Sequins (black), Royal (purple) and Bora Bora (teal)- this stuff not only looks great but it. does. not. budge. Seriously! I took some Bora Bora our for a test spin to see a friend’s open mic performance on one of the muggiest nights of the year and the liner remained in place and totally vibrant the entire evening. Major thumbs up! I’ve also been into doing a thick wing in Royal and then subtley contouring the rest of my eyes with “Beach” and “Bronzed”, two of four eye shadows included in the travel palette. The palette also includes cheek color and a bronzing powder, giving you everything you need to create a gorgeous beachy look, concrete jungle be damned!

you taste just like glitter

my love for beauty products is not on par as my love for fashion persay, but there are are few most stellar items i've been using recently that i must share...

1) tokidoki perfetto eyeliner in sabochan. this is an intense waterproof inky black liquid liner that features a "chisel" tip that makes applying a total snap... i truly fell in love with this last year when i wore it every day to coachella and it stayed put through the hot ass dessert weather and never-ending dance/mosh parties...

2) deborah lippman nail polish in "across the universe." ms. lipmann herself introduced this color to me last fall backstage during spring fashion week and i rightly became enamoured. it's like glitter for punks, all chunky and rad... i gave myself a mani for fashion week and everywhere i went people wanted to know what was on my nails! at $18 per bottle it's a bit pricey, but totally worth it for something unique that lasts...

3) bumble and bumble bb.texture (un)dressing cream. this is a brand spankin' new product set to hit stores in march... i was the fortunate recipient courtesy a fashion show gift bag this past sunday (hollllaaaa)... i tried it out the very next day and it is definitely by new hair essential... just a little bit worked in before you blow dry seriously gives you the perfect rock and roll texture and volume without any stickiness. IN LOVE.

i can't tell if alexa chung's nails are polka dots or mini hearts... either way i don't think this chick could get much cooler!! (and you better believe that i'm totally stealing this beauty idea!)

there'll be no perfect day

from the folks who brought you vamp and jade, i excitingly present to you paradoxal... chanel's next it nail color... a gorgeously goth gray violet that i challenge anyone to find at a chanel makeup counter near you... if by some grace of the beauty gods you snag one, call me! because um, yeah, i'll definitely want to borrow it!!!

i howled at my ma in the driving rain

it's gonna be 90 and humid in nyc this weekend... perfect weather to road test alex wang's fall 2010 slick hair and shiny burnt eyes! and since i've been striking out on my anouk boots, this might be the closest thing to alexander wang i'll be able to get!
