how stunning is this necklace from giles & brothers? definitely a statement piece. for some reason i picture it on some hot lady astronaut in a remake of david bowie's space oddity video. wait a minute, that hot lady IS david bowie!

one of the many glorious aspects to living in new york is the plethora of sample sales. almost every week it seems, you can find designer staples for less. yesterday my friend mary and i visited the venexiana sample sale. having never heard of them before, let alone seen their clothes i had no idea what we were getting into. well holy guacamole it was a pure fashiongasm. all of their pieces had a very rock and roll, marianne faithfull vibe with leathers and fur and retro details. i think mary and i tried on everything in the showroom. the only saving grace to our bank accounts was that most of the pieces were sample sizes, resulting in many items fitting the bust but not the shoulders, fitting the waist but not the calves, fitting the waist but too short on the arms, etc. miracle of miracles i was able to fit into this luscious creamy peachy leather jacket and a polka dot silk blouse. i am in LOVE with this jacket and even find myself petting it when it's not on. it's the perfect spring leather color and the shoulder and sleeve details are just sick. oh and it was only $100 and retails for over $1500. nothing like a kickass leather jacket i say!!! 

karma chameleon

truth: every couple of months i get bored of my hair. since i chopped it all off during my last episode it has taken great personal pains to let it grow until there's a bit of length to play with. tomorrow i see my kickass nyc hair girl, izumi (molly you will forever be the one who made my hair cool though!), and tonight, i dye. visions of bleached blonde goodness a'la agnes deyn danced through my head, but my sensitive scalp and scant pocketbook cannot afford that... so i've decided to stick with the red for a bit longer. julienne moore, this one's for you. time to rinse!

just another follower

i thought i'd share a few of my favorite fashion blogs and share the inspiration love... i've been following fashiontoast and zanita for about 3 months now and am a new convert to stylebubble. after facebook, these are the first websites i check out after a long day at work (my company blocks fb and blogs from our computers... that's big brother for ya!) 

• fashiontoast: blogger rumi neely has been around i believe since early 2006 and has a definitively cool west coast rock and roll vibe. i love how she incorporates her high and low items. i also think her photography, shot by her boyfriend, is groovy. 
• zanita: zanita, a part time model, includes backstage show shots as well as every day outfit pics on her page. 
• style bubble: i just discovered this one today after reading a piece about blogger susie bubble on refinery29... sure to be a new fave.

fell in love with a dress

what else is new? i can't get over this mcq dress and it's removable cape/sleeve. a wedding, a date, an interview (sans sleeve), the possibilities are endless. in the words of rachel zoe (i know, i know, but i got sucked into a "the rachel zoe project" marathon on bravo yesterday): "i die."

out of this world

in bergdorf goodman's spring 2009 catalog there are about four photo stories of women's spring looks, each with a completely diffferent, unique amazing vibe. my favorite is the first- the breathtaking landscape paired with the futuristic clothes is just stunning.
