it's been sweltering here in nyc for the past few weeks and not only did i buy a pair of boots last week, but now i'm drooling over a winter coat?!? surely, there is something wrong with my noggin!!

i howled at my ma in the driving rain

it's gonna be 90 and humid in nyc this weekend... perfect weather to road test alex wang's fall 2010 slick hair and shiny burnt eyes! and since i've been striking out on my anouk boots, this might be the closest thing to alexander wang i'll be able to get!

i have scaled these city walls

today on my hunt for the alexander wang anouk boots: barneys coop and otte. surprisingly barneys did not have any of the pre-fall shoes yet in store (even though they have them on their website) and otte's size 9's were sadly too small for my large, frustratingly wide feet... but take heart dear readers! (all 2 of you!) i did not come home entirely empty handed! i fell in love with a candle. more specifically, joya's blue lotus & wild grass candle. designed and hand poured in new york city, the entire joya line is an olfactory and visual treat. it was a tough decision between my black porcelain octopi adorned choice and the skulled gun powder and green tea (amazing!)... but indeed it is a true testament to the overall amazingness of the line that i spent $50 on a freakin candle! or maybe it's a testament to my shopaholic-ism? a little of both?

find me a find, catch me a catch

all last fall i searched high and low for my perfect pair of black motorcycle boots. the criteria: at least somewhat of a heel, black leather, perhaps buckle-y and most importantly, badass. yet 95% of everything i came across didn't work or was just too expensive (champagne tastes you know!). i ended up buying a faux leather pair for about $60 from urban outfitters that have not worn so well...

the way i see it, there are 2 lessons to be learned here kids: 1) don't wait until the fall to buy your new favorite boots. all the good pairs will be gone and you'll never find what you're looking for. 2) it pays to spend a little more on a pair that you can wear religiously that will last for years. which leads me to these little beauts from my perennial fave, alexander wang. that heel! the supple black leather! the slightly 60's bent! in luuuuuurrrve!!
