sole gluttony

had to clean out my work desk last week in preparation for a building move. was shocked (and a bit embarrassed) to discover that i had 14 pairs of shoes in there. 14! at work! not counting the numerous numerous pairs i have at home! will someone please tell me how it is that i feel i have no cute shoes to wear multiple times a week? (oh and a quick update on my first wardrobe purge of 2009- i got $30 from buffalo exchange for the few items they took. not great, but i'll take it! in fact, i've already spent it! not on more clothes though. on booze. ha.)

snoodley doodley doo

came across this missoni snood on net-a-porter and was immediately taken. but ehhh no thanks to the $240 price tag- especially considering the ridiculously high odds of me accidentally leaving it in a cab one chilly drunken night. so i thought i'd look around and see if i could find a snood (one definition of which is "the pendulous skin over the beak of a turkey" (sorta gross but thanks dictionary.com!) on the cheap, and well, let's just say the google search results were interesting. medieval hair snoods (Lady MacSnood, lol), dog snoods (um... wow), and even a computer/online/iphone/etc puzzle game... finally came across more of what i was looking for on designs on cashmere. half the price of the missoni and in cashmere as opposed to wool, i'd say we found a winner.

master cleanse

taking clothes to sell back to consignment stores can be a disheartening process. you really almost take it personally when they don't want to buy anything off you- like, is my stuff not good enough for you, you dirty granola wannabe hipster?! huh? HUH?! look at me when i'm pretending to talk to you!) so it really just helps to go in with a "i'll get what i'll get if anything, who cares" attitude. i have major pack rat tendencies and really find it difficult to give away anything i think i might wear, even if it's not my style anymore (we had some good times tan seersucker swing jacket) and it doesn't even fit right (vintage lilac blouse i'm lookin at you). i try to be as objective as possible, though it always proves difficult and i'm positive there are things that should go that i'm keeping for now... so without further adieu, my spring 2009 wardrobe cleanse, in no particular order: 

• 3 multi-color bangle bracelets
• 2 vintage purses (1 beige clutch, 1 forest green tote)
• 1 pair of ballet shoes (target)
• 3 pairs of jeans (cheap monday, paper denim & cloth, miss sixty)
• 2 pairs of shorts (both american eagle)
• 1 denim knee length skirt (urban outfitters)
• 6 t-shirts (random)
• 1 camisole (sweet pea) 
• 2 blouses (vintage and h&m)
• 2 dresses (urban outfitters and express)
• 1 cardigan (proenza schouler for target)
• 2 spring jackets (american rag and forever 21)

i'm going to try to take my stuff in sometime this week and will report back with the results. even if it is zero dollars.

last resort

spent a great weekend in jersey (shocking i know) at the horse race track and by the shore. definitely didn't apply sunscreen properly as i am now sporting some lovely bright red striped on top of my feet, my left leg and my neck. awesome. i'm dying to make some outfit and recent purchase posts, but unfortunately lost my camera to a texas-sized margarita incident over memorial day weekend... but it's ok, i have a plan:

1. do closet cleanse. take unwanted items to buffalo exchange/beacons closet. pray that said items will earn me back at least half the price of a new camera. 
2. get new camera. 
3. take pics of studded sandals scored at old navy for $2. yes, $2.
